Anti-Virus Programs for Mac OS X PDF Print E-mail

At our last meeting we discussed the current threats to the Mac OS X operating system, these can be found in our news section (links at the bottom of the page). As part of this coverage, we also discussed the available security options for OS X. Links to these programs are below. Subscription based services

Remember that most of these softwares are available inspecially priced multi-user packs, speak to a friend and get it cheaper.

Intego (www.intego.com)

Several of our members use this software. for those of you who use Boot Camp, Parallels or VMWare Fusion there is also a dual platform protection option which is here.

Sophos (www.sophos.com)

Enterprise class protection, if you use your macat work, then you may be able to score a copy on your companies licensing.

Avast! (www.avast.com)

Both Mac and Mac & PC options available.

Macafee (www.macafee.com)

No dual platform product, but they do sell both seperately.

Norton (www.norton.com)

If you must, then please do.

Free alternatives

ClamXAv (www.clamxav.com)

It's free, lacking features, but there is no cost.

iAntivirus (www.iantivirus.com)
